Stories from Krishna's life

Fruit Seller Story

One day, Krishna was watching his mother make butter. He was hoping that when his mother was done, he would get to eat a good amount of it. His mother knew what he was thinking and smiled to herself. She secretly enjoyed Krishna's mischevious pranks.

A fruit seller outside the house shouted, "Mangoes, Mangoes." Krishna's father, Nandaraj brought out a whole basket of grain for the mangoes. The fruit seller told Nandaraj that most people only give her half a basket for this many mangoes and smiled.

Krishna was watching all of this. Though he was very small, he quickly understood that mangoes could be exchanged for grains. Krishan clenched his small fists with grains of rice and brought it out to the fruit seller hoping he could buy so,e of his own mangoes.

The fruit seller took a careful look at Krishna and fell in love. She forgot about everything around her. Krishna asked for Mangoes and emptied out his fists. His hands could only grab a few grains and he realized that the amount of grains he had could probably not even buy him one Mango.

She saw the disapointment in Krishna's eyes and she gladly filled his arms with golden ripe mangoes. Krishna became so happy. The basket of grains that Nandaraj had gaven her immediately turned into gold. The fruit seller could not believe her eyes.

She looked at Krishna and he had a big grin on his face. She then knew that she was standing next to no one other than god himself.

Universe in Krishna Mouth Story

When Krishna was a toddler, he, his brother Balaram, and Balaram friends were all picking fruit off a tree. Krishna was not able to reach the trees so he picked up dirt from the ground and stuffed it in his mouth.

The other children saw them doing that and the ran to Yashoda (Krishna and Balaram mom) and told her what Krishna did. Yashoda asked Krishna if he ate mud and he nodded his head no without opening his mouth.

Yashoda told Krishna to open his mouth but Krishna thought that his mother would scold him so he didn't. Yashoda looked at him seriously so Krishna had no choice but to look at her and open his mouth.

When Krishna opened his mouth, he saw the entire universe in it. There were galaxies, stars, etc. She was so surprised. She then knew that Krishna was no ordinary child. He was the lord himself.

One year, Lord Krishna told the villagers about ‘Dharma’. He told the villagers about how they have to focus on working hard and being sincere whenever the do something. Everyone listened to him and did not to offer prayers to Lord Indra.

When the villagers did not pray to Lord Indra he sent a huge storm to the village. Vrindavan flooded with rainwater and people could not find anywhere that would be safe for them. Krishna saw this and lifted the Govardhan hill on his pinkie finger for the people to take shelter.

The villagers took shelter under the hill for days while Krishna lifted it. Lord Indra realized his mistake and stopped the rain. The villagers thanked Krishna and prayed to him.
